Day 3: Readying for re-entry to earth
Day 3 was an all-time high as the kids were now used to being on the space station and familiar with their module schedules and the flow of things.
In the Medical Bay, the kids learned about emotions and about keeping a positive look in life but thinking about God’s love and His faithfulness. In the Design Lab, each kid contributed to a “Thank You” mural that was presented to the parents who visited the next day and displayed at Sunday service. In the Tech Lab, they made structures out of toothpicks and marshmallows on top of jello bases and learned the story about the wise and foolish builders (Matthew 7:24).
The day ended with a game where the kids had to solve memory verse puzzles. The game was that words of the Bible verses were placed on cards and the volunteers would play different word games with the kids like verse mix-up, fill-in-the-blanks, and “guess what’s next?”. The kids were very quick and excited, especially when they were solving the last part of each puzzle.
Till the next mission
The three day “space tour” went by so quickly for both the kids and the volunteers. It was a great time to bond and help the kids get connected to Christ. The time onboard the space station allowed enough bonding that some kids and their parents now regularly attend church. And a lot of friendships were made that will continue well through the rest of the year and onto the next mission. To God be the Glory.
