Make Disciples

Today, January 31, 2016, is our 27th Church Anniversary and our theme for today’s celebration is “Making Disciples.” This is not only the theme for today’s celebration but for the whole year.

Why the theme “Making Disciples? This was chosen so that we would be reminded our mission and that is to make disciples. In relation to this, there are a number of things that we will be making this year. First of all, we need to be sure that we are disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. My sermon last Sunday was about this, that we need to follow Jesus. I will continue on with this topic in the next Sundays to come. Second, we need to bring people into our services so that they too will become disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. As much as possible in every service will give an opportunity for people to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. We will also be having evangelistic events where we can invite our friends and relatives. Third, we will have training on how to evangelize in a unique way. Sis. Del Alimbo, our Evangelism Team Leader, will later train us on this. Fourth, we will also relaunch our small groups which we will now call Life Groups. To these groups we will bring the people who accepted the Lord Jesus Christ. It will be in these groups that they will grow into faithful and functional disciples. Bro. Micol Esparagoza is our Life Groups Team Leader. This February, he will invite potential leaders for some training.

The theme of “Making Disciples” is like a trilogy. In the coming years, we will still have this theme. This year, it is “Making Disciples.” In 2017, it will be “Disciples Making Disciples.” After this, 2018, it will be “Making Disciples: Here and Beyond.”

I hope and pray that the emphasis on making disciples will help fulfil our mission, the Great Commission, and make also our church grow.

Happy being disciples and making disciples!
