The Need To Commit

I am happy that Atty. L.A. Reyes preached about commitment last Sunday, February 24, 2013.  As what I had said last Sunday, it is good to hear someone preach about topics like that aside from myself.  It means that that person has seen what I have seen - and that is the need for commitment.  For a lay person to communicate this sometimes is more effective. Yes, for this church to be a great church, commitment of everybody is required!

Do you remember the biblical definition given by Atty. L.A. last Sunday?  She said that in the Bible the word commitment means “giving.”  When you say that you are committed, it means that you are giving.

For us to be a great church there are three things that we should give to show our commitment or dedication.  First, we should committed by giving our time.  This means that we support the church by our attendance in the different activities.  Second, our commitment should also be shown in the giving our talents.  This church is not short on talents.  The problem is the availability of these talents.  But when I say talents, I also include the abilities and the spiritual gifts.  And last, we should be showing our commitment by faithfully giving our tithes, offerings and pledges to the Lord.  If there is lack commitment, the giving of our treasures to the Lord is affected.

Vince Lombardi, the well-known coach of the Green Bay Packers, said, “Individual commitment to a group effort - that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work.”  Add to the list “church work.”
